Doe any1 know what i can do 2 get my xbox 360 controller 2 work on halo on windows vista ultimate?

I have a lot of games for computer from circuit city… fifa 07 rugby 08 and madden 08 well yah i had just bought halo yesterday but i try to use my xbox 360 controller like i do for all my other games and when i try working it for halo i go to the controller setup and it wont let me switch off keyboard/mouse like any of my other games can some one help i will really appreciate it thanx
