fighting games for the xbox 360
Here is my little attempt to review this old classic game revived for XBOX 360. If you’re not certain if the game is right for you, read on. I’ll focus on a few major gaming aspects.
Graphics
Superb. I cannot think of a better 2D fighting games on par with this. The HD sprites are incredibly beautiful, with all the old sprites style kept intact still. However, despite the improvement in graphics, which is probably the biggest changes from the old version, the frame rate remains pretty much the same. This can be quite obvious if you focus on the background graphics. The overall impression is quite smooth and elegantly processed. One point that’s worth mentioning is the completely new ending screens for characters.
Gameplay
While the graphics are getting refurbished, there is also some significant changes in game play. The design team have put a lot of efforts to balance the game, and thus players who get used to the old version will need some time to adapt to new changes. This move can be quite newbie-friendly, and also fix some potential exploits.
One big plus over the old game is the online play function. The matching system works very smoothly. You don’t need to wait for a long time before a game starts. The lag is not serious for me, even in case of poor connection.
Sound
The voice acting is kept the same for all characters. However, the music of stages is remixed. The style is quite relaxing overall. Though, I am not personally very keen with the sound.
Conclusion
If you’re a big fan of street fighter series, there’s no reason why you should not get this title, and the price is quite affordable. However, the online game play can be quite competitive. Overall, it is a solid game that’s worth getting. Rate: 8/10
