how can i connect a wireless microsoft xbox 360 controller to a pc without wireless game reciever?

What i try to do is use the charge and play kit to connect it to the the computer and i installed the software from microsoft. it doesnt work as a controller it says its a controller in devicemanager but in game controllers in control panel it doesnt detect it and i try it half life 2 it doesnt work so please help me

You can’t you can only use wired if you don’t want to buy the wireless receiver, the plug n charge kit does not transmit data over the wire, while the controller is charging it still emits the signal to the 360 wireless, to prove that, just plug it in to your computer and turn your xbox on.

The wireless receiver is only $20 where as a wired controller cost $40
