Why Xbox 360 Elite Wireless Controller will not work with Xbox 360 Pro, and vice versa?

I just bought an Xbox 360 Elite and wine with a wireless controller. When I went to my friends and tried to connect to your Xbox 360 Pro did not work. When another friend came and brought his Xbox 360 Pro does not connect to my xbox. Does this something to do with the fact that you have an elite? How I can solve this problem "and why is this happening? Please help

You need to synchronize Xbox controller that you play every time you go to a new Xbox. This is done by pressing the sync button next to the memory card slot second on the Xbox, then holding the sync button on the top of the driver for about one second.
