Best hardrive for PS3 — accessories?

i am going to get a ps3
but i’m thinking about getting the original 2006-2007 models.
so i was gonna get a 20gb (backwards compatible, 4 USB ports)

Seagate are good but most 2.5 sata hard drives should be fine, you should get one that is 5400rpm, a faster one could cause your PS3 to overheat and it doesn’t make any noticeable difference to the speed of the PS3, in fact, because of the added stress on the system, a 7200 could cause it to function more slowly.

20GB PS3′s do not have built in WiFi, I would go with a 60GB or older backwards compatible 80GB (MGS4/Motorstorm bundle, with 4 usb ports)

I wouldn’t bother with Linux, the PS3 does not have much ram memory so Linux would run pretty slow, if you have a PC it’s not worth putting Linux on your PS3, but the above hard drive will be fine if you do.

Intercoolers are usually bad for PS3′s. They interfere with it’s own cooling fans, intake and outtake, and seem to shorten the life of your PS3. So long as you keep your PS3 in a well venitlated spot with plenty of space around it, and keep it as dust free as you can, it will not overheat:)
