Can I use an Xbox 360 controller for the PC version of CoD: World at War?
I have just bought the PC version of Call of Duty: World at War from Steam. I was just wondering whether you can use an Xbox 360 controller designed for Windows on Call of Duty: World at War and how do you change it so that you can use it? Thanks.
The first thing you should know is that no self-respecting PC FPS gamer uses gamepads. You would be at a huge disadvantage if you decided to try to use a gamepad or joystick to play against someone using a mouse+keys setup – you would not be able to change direction as quickly, nor will you be able to aim as accurately using a thumbstick, compared to using a mouse.
IIRC, COD5 doesn’t have native gamepad support for that very reason. Of course, you could use an input emulator such as Xpadder or Joy2Key to bind keyboard commands to your gamepad’s buttons…
When Microsoft released it’s FPS game based on the Shadowrun RPG franchise, they though they could work it out so that PC gamers could play against 360 gamers. The problem was that they essentially had to gimp PC gamers to be less accurate than 360 gamers. It didn’t go over very well.
