Problem with the Xbox 360 does not seem to be basic and the HDMI port of the Xbox was wondering how you can play games in high definition

Hi Ive got Xbox 360 Core System and a HDTV and want to play HD games and I recently an HDMI cable to my xbox, but apparently does not have ports for HDMI cable on the TV is my Xbox, and wondered how you can play HD games? or is there another way? or is it because my heart system?
