good replacement monitor?

well, it appears that my gateway HD2200 crapped out about a month after the warranty expired (surprise surprise), and i am not left with a tower and no way to get a picture, so what is a good replacement monitor to buy (17-21in wide screen) for a decent price (nothing extravagant, just something to hold me over till i go to school this fall)

Check on craigslist and ebay. Especially if you only need it for a short time. I just sold a 15″ LCD on craigs for 30 bucks. I saw bigger monitors for 70 or 80. See if you know someone that has an old one in the closet.
