My wireless xbox 360 controller will not connect to my xbox 360?

I turn my controller on, and it just stays at the connecting sign for a good 10 minutes then it turns off. I have it right next to my xbox, i press the connect botton on the xbox and on the controller. How can i fix it? I have 1 other controller but it is wired, and if you shake it just a little it dissconnects so, no, this is my only controller.

whenever you to connect your controller to a different xbox and you put it back in to your xbox its trying to connect to the other xbox because you didnt connect it back to yours so jusst hold down the button on your controller (it should have a few arrows on it) and and hold down the small button next to the power button at the same time and it should connect and if it doesnt just get a new controller
